David Gage String Instruments has been an authority on the upright bass and cello for over 30 years, and we are proud to rent fine instruments to travelling musicians and students. For aspiring young musicians, we provide top-quality student instruments that are fun to play, a time-tested aid for productive practice and creative inspiration. Bass Rental Rates

Student Plywood Bass: $70/month (3 month minimum)
Includes fiberglass bow and cover
Rosin $2.50/month, wood bow $10/month, Realist transducer $20/month

Professional Plywood Bass or Czech-Ease Road Bass: $67.50/day, $180/week, $645/month
Includes wood bow, cover, rosin, and Realist transducer

Professional Carved-Wood Bass: $135/day, $310/week, $1115/month
Includes wood bow, cover, rosin, and Realist transducer

Professional 5-String or C-Extension Carved-Wood Bass: $175/day, $395/week, $1425/month
Includes wood bow, cover, rosin, and Realist transducer

Cello Rental Rates

Student Carved-Wood Cello: $60/month (3 month minimum)
Includes fiberglass bow and cover
Rosin $2.50/month, wood bow $10/month, Realist transducer $20/month

Professional Carved-Wood Cello: $95/day, $215/week
Includes wood bow, cover, rosin, and Realist transducer

Viola Rental Rates

Student Viola: $28/month (3 month minimum)
Includes wood bow, case, and rosin
Realist transducer $20/month

Violin Rental Rates

Student Violin: $25/month (3 month minimum)
Includes wood bow, case, and rosin

Realist Violin 4- or 5-String Standard: $15/day, $25/week, $40/month (3 month minimum), $65/month (less than 3 months)

We’ll credit your first 9 months of student rental fees to any shop-owned instrument in our renowned collection, ensuring that you get the best value for your money. We take pride in treating each of our customers with the same care and attention, whether they’ll be performing on grade-school stages or in the world’s finest venues.

High-Quality, Low-Cost Insurance

We offer insurance packages that protect you and your rented instrument. Proof of insurance is required for all carved professional instrument rentals, but any rental is eligible for insurance and the application process is quick and easy.
